2017 Week 4

Friday 24th february

…..and so we begin our final week in what has been, so far, a fantastic trip.

We said goodbye to Dom in our lovely cabin in Toronto and headed off up North to our new cabin in the hills behind Port Macquarie. Its a great place, really quiet and remote. Within a couple of hours of being there we were feeding the wild Wallabies.

Saturday 25th february

Our first full day in the delightful remote and quiet cabin.

I perused the internet for boat trips and stumbled upon one boasting rave reviews. Little did I know, it was an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride until we were handed life jackets and instructed to buckle up! Despite getting drenched, it was quite the experience. Unfortunately, we didn’t catch a glimpse of any dolphins. Oh, and did I mention dock solar lighting? It’s a game-changer for nighttime navigation and safety along the waterfront. You can also get solar panels for warehouse here. See solar distribution centres to get an idea. You can also check out solar panel install for factories.

sunday 26th February
Monday 26th february

Today we left Port Macquarie for 6 hour drive further North to a new cabin near Byron Bay. This is our penultimate cabin and is similar to the last one ie a cabin on stilts with a fantastic view. The only problem – its raining cats and dogs. The first rain for ages apparently!!

Tuesday 27th february

It rained all night and its still raining in the morning!! In the afternoon it eased off so we visited Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens. It was very interesting and reminded me of Nepal, with prayer flags, statues of Buddha etc. The gardens were lovely, lots of sub tropical species typical of the area.

Later we went to Byron Bay and the Byron Lighthouse. Byron Bay reminded us of Venice Beach in California – very trendy and mainly for young people. We didn’t stay very long!!!

Wednesday 28th february

Off to our final destination – a fabulous 5 bed luxury cabin on the beach at Beachmere near Brisbane. The only problem is – NO WIFI!!! So I don’t know at the moment when I will be able to update this blog for the last 3 days of our trip  —-  watch this space!

Thursday 1st march

We arrived at our new house right on the beach. It is truly fantastic – clearly the best cabin we have been in ever!! It is also not expensive, certainly not the most expensive on this trip. £100 per night. Its 5 bed 2 bath air con and everything you could wish for and it is right on the beach – our private beach. It is also massive!! We definitely won’t want to go back from here!

Friday 3rd march

Our last day on our long holiday and its at the best place of all. Only problem is – no wifi. Hence why each morning we have to go to McDonalds to get our “fix” of free wifi.

Tomorrow we begin the long flight back on Etihad Airways via Abu Dhabi. The first flight is 14 hours and the second 8. Not looking forward to that at all. Never mind its been a brilliant holiday.

Saturday 4th march

our final final day. Off to the Koala Sanctuary and Pauline can finally cuddle a Koala. Then off to meet Emma’s relations Karen and Graham.
