We decided to go on the Ashby canal in April. The main reason for choosing this canal was the lack of locks. In fact, on the whole trip there were only 4 locks
- The three at Hillmorton
- the one stop lock at Hawkesbury Junction
The only problem – no shops, except a farm shop by the canal. We did try a pub meal, again disappointed. It was a Sunday lunch, entirely out of the freezer. There was a great cafe though, complete with Ice Cream Boat.
