2016 Week 3

Sunday 25th September

We travelled to the ferry to take the 2.5 hour journey back to St John and another half hour journey to our new cottage in St Martins just down the coast. The cottage is lovely, very remote with wonderful ocean views.

Monday 26th September

The weather today was great though now getting colder. The forecast for tomorrow and thereafter is rain so we decided to explore as much as possible in good weather. The beaches are right on our doorstep so we explored them at low tide (the tide rises about 16metres) with some interesting rocks. A light lunch of lobster roll and brilliant chowder shared between the two of us as portions are big!

Tuesday 27th September

Rain all day so we went to New Brunswick museum in St John. Amazing shipbuilding past.

Wednesday 28th September

The weather was much better today so we returned to the Fundy Trail, visited St Martins again and went on a personal guided tour of the St Martins museum. All through this coast lies a history of shipbuilding, using the plentiful supply of timber and also the extremely high tides to launch ships.

Thursday 29th September

Rather a long drive tomorrow (up to 8 hours!) further South top the USA and Maine to our next cottage in Southport, Maine…….
